The feud between Kylian Mbappe and Paris Saint-Germain reached its climax last season after the forward found his younger brother Ethan in tears.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Mbappe and PSG’s relationship had been on a knife’s edge for some time due to the France captain’s constant links with a move to Real Madrid. The star striker had even been banished from the first-team for some time last season as he refused to sign a contract extension and coach Luis Enrique was ordered to leave him out of the squad entirely. While the Spaniard continued to select his star forward, the tension came to a head when the feud saw president Nasser Al-Khelaifi target his brother Ethan’s place in the squad, sparking an angry reaction from the forward.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Ahead of their last game of the season, Al-Khelaifi gave the Spanish coach the order to exclude Ethan from his team, according to L’Equipe. Mbappe found Ethan sobbing in the locker room after being axed from the team and had a huge clash with Al-Khelaifi over the treatment of his brother. Amid the outburst, report says that Mbappe told Al-Khelaifi that he would not forgive the €55 million (£46m/$60m) in unpaid wages that the club are said to owe him.

DID YOU KNOW?
While Mbappe’s move to Madrid made all the waves, Ethan also left PSG as a free agent and joined Lille. The 17-year-old has made four appearances since signing a three-year deal in the summer, though his start to life at the club has been hampered by injury.
WHAT NEXT FOR MBAPPE?
Despite Mbappe’s move to the Spanish giants, the saga between him and PSG has yet to end as the Frenchman has sued his former club over the money he is apparently owed. The club were ordered to pay the outstanding fees but are planning to take it to a higher court as the case drags on.
